Star Wars scores have been one of the biggest iconic scores in cinema thanks to John Williams. I decided to rank the top 5 songs from the movies. Before I start, I like to make an honorable mention to Rey’s Theme in The Force Awakens. Like Luke’s theme, you get to understand what the character is doing or thinking.
5. Duel of the Fates
Very well known from the Darth Maul vs. Obi Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jin in The Phantom Menace. It also used in Attack of the Clones when Anakin is looking for his mother on Tatooine and Yoda vs. The Emperor in The Revenge of the Sith. It has a powerful dark tone of the choir with some brass.
4. Luke’s Theme
Most of the characters have themes in the movie and one of the most memorable is Luke’s Theme. When he looks at the sunset on Tatooine in A New Hope, we can tell that the is longing for an adventure.
3. Cantina Song
It’s a great up beat song when entertaining the bar on Tatooine. It sets the tone of the scene and the atmosphere of the place.
2. The Imperial March or Vader’s Theme
When Darth Vader first appeared in A New Hope, the background is more powerful to show that he shouldn’t be messed with. What was lacking was the theme for the Empire and Vader leading the Stormtroopers until Williams made an iconic theme for The Empire Strikes Back.
1. The Main Theme
“A long time ago in a galaxy far far away…” once that fades out the infamous scrolling text appears and the main theme starts at the sams. It sets the tone for most of the movie and it, with gets you hooked into the story.
